Amsterdam Trying Linux, OpenOffice.org

Sunday, 2007-January-07 at 08:26

SolidOffice found an article at desktoplinux.com that says the city will test out open source during the first half of the year.  If the test succeeds, they will become a mixed environment.

According to DesktopLinux, other Dutch cities are also testing or deploying open source as well.  The story also links to a report by a grad student that concludes that we are nearing a tipping point where the use of Desktop Linux in government and enterprise environments will suddenly increase rapidly.  Is this the year of desktop Linux?
